Hedge planting
At the top of the field that has its boundary with the road, the previous owner removed a native hedge and replaced it with metal railings in a reinforced concrete base. To be honest it looks horrible and so out of place for the area. It would cost too much and take far too long to remove it so I have decided to plant back a native mixed hedge. We are also overlooked a lot from the road so this will in future years allow us some privacy and also allow us to remove the horrible overgrown leylandii hegde that surrounds the house.
The hedge will include a row along the wall of hawthorn, then planted in front with a selection of willows, ash, birch, rose, elder and hazel. As this grows and I see more space I will add some holy and maybe a few evergreen oaks.
