I tried something new this year with the sweetcorn, chiting like you do with potatoes. Basically you place them on some damp kitchen paper until they germinate, then you pot them up. Sweetcorn suffer from rotting because they swell up so fast and get soggy and rot before they get to germinate. 

The results were that more germinated but will be at least a week behind the potted seed. This maybe die to me leaving them too long
