Euro-Toques Awards in Dunbrody House
What an amazing day spent in Kevin Dundons Dunbrody House Hotel at the Euro-Toques Awards.
It not every day you get chosen by some of the best chefs in Ireland and invited to their prestigious food awards, the first event to take place since 2019. I was selected in the final 4 of the land category
I arrived down early to set up my little showcase of my products, where all the chefs could come and taste and talk about my products. To be honest it was all very overwhelming seeing all these rockstars of the Irish food scene.
Just before the event started, Darina Allen arrived and what an amazing experience to meet her. She is such a wonderful champion for small producers.
She came up and asked me why she should buy my honey and after telling her my story she said she would take everything I had with me. It’s all for sale down in Ballymaloe Farm shop.
The awards were announced in the gardens of Dunbrody House and unfortunately I didn’t win but I was genuinely delighted to just be there among all these greats. Here I was being presented with a runners up certificate by Kevin Dundon and Kwanghi Chan.
After the awards ceremony, we were invited to have lunch, most of it had been prepared using products by the finalist producers. My honey and pollen was used by Janice the head chef in Dunbrody House in one of the main courses.
