Halter Training
It was another day of halter training for Wooly & Cara, both doing far better than their last outing. Wooly is still far better and lets you touch him all over where as Cara is still a little jumpy but she is improving every day.
Halter training requires a lot of patience and you need to build up a level of trust between you and the animal. Until the animal fully trusts you there is always a change of sporadic trying to get away or not being cooperative.
The idea is to start off with little things like feeding from a bucket and then trying to pet her as she eats, gradually increasing the amount and areas where you touch her. Each day or so you should be making progress. Then just rest the halter or a rope on her back and leave it there. After a few more days try putting the halter on loosely and leaving it hang on the ground.
Its all about small gradual steps and building up that level of trust with the animal.
