Getting the butchers block ready

First I started off washing and scrubbing down the stand. It was covered in grease and dirt from its previous life in the Montrose Hotel. Its made of aluminum and is very light and well built.

I got the wire brush attachment on the drill and removed all the dirt from the surface of the entire block. Then it got sanded down with a course sandpaper with the sander and then finished off with a finer grain sandpaper.

Even the rust on the corner brackets got a good scrub...
