Blocked Flue

The stove completely blocked up yesterday so it was a cold night. I called into Seán on the way home this evening to borrow his chimney rods, I gave mine to someone to use and cannot remember who.

I was on my own so it was difficult, I opened the inspection plate and stuffed some crumpled up newspaper into a plastic bag and pushed it into the opening to stop the soot from falling down to the bottom of the flue and not be able to remove it.

I got the rods right up to the top of the flue and unblocked it but didn't expect that what came down was like custard poured down onto the bag of newspaper and pushed it down to the bottom of the flue.

I finally got it unblocked and got the fire up and running, but the clean-up can wait until tomorrow.
