Senior Judge at the Student Enterprise Awards
I was honoured to be asked to be a senior judge at the Student Enterprise Awards that were being held in the Maldron Hotel in Tallaght.
A few days before I received an email with the busineses plans for 33 groups of students from transition years classes across South Dublin.
All were read over the course of a few evenings and marked. These marks were only about 20% of their overall marks. The rest would be allocated depending on our meeting and interview on the day.
On the day of the awards the judges met for a morning briefing before we were let loose to go and meet the 33 groups of students.
It was an amazing experience for me to do this. Something a few years ago I would have not been comfortable doing. But it was an absolute pleasure meeting and talking to all these amazing young adults. The future is definintly bright with all the talent that I saw during the day.
But after each of the 4 judges meeting all the groups and marking them on lots of different criteria we all came to the same result that the overall winner went to AI Study Buddy. We will definitely be seeing lots more from them in the future. They now go on to represent South Dublin in te All Ireland taking place in May.
Overall I was absolutely blown away by the businesses and ideas that all the students had created. Also a big congratulations to all the other winners on the day.
