I've had a few people over the last few months tasting and liking the sloe gin I made last November. So I'm putting up the recipe so everyone can make this great winter tipple, especially for you Tanya :-)2014-11-06 12.55.02Here are the two original post I made last October and November:http://www.ollysfarm.com/2014/10/sloe-gin-2/http://www.ollysfarm.com/2014/11/sloe-gin/ Sloe Gin Recipe:It's best to freeze the sloes overnight to simulate being out in the frost, this makes it easier for the skins to break down and let the alcohol in and the juices out. I think the best gin to use is a cheaper one that is pretty bland, the more expensive ones you are only paying for the botanicals and flavors which you really don't care about here as the sloes will make their own flavor.500g sloes500g sugar650ml gin

  • put the sloes into a big jar or bottle, I used a demijon
  • add the sugar and the gin
  • close the container and shake the mixture twice a day for the next week
  • leave for a further 10 weeks shaking occasionally
  • strain into bottles, I used old gin and whiskey bottles
  • I was always told that it has to be left for up to a year but the longer the better. I've already gone through half of last years supply
  • the remaining sloes can be de-stoned and dipped in chocolate to make a great little chocolate sweet
